Honor humanitarian Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) with this two-ounce stamp from the U.S. Postal Service. A survivor of Naziconcentration camps, Wiesel fought for human rights and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. His writing about theHolocaust is forever seared on the public consciousness.Issued in a pane of 20, the 18th stamp in the Distinguished American series features a 1999 black-and-white photograph of Wieselin a suit and tie, with a pensive expression on his face. The word "Humanitarian" is printed vertically over the bottom left side ofthe image.Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamp with a photograph by Sergey Bermeniev.The words "Two Ounce" on this stamp indicate its usage value.
